How and when did you begin with the gifting suites?

I launched our Main Event Lounge at Sundance Film Festival in January 2007. I have been attending & supporting the film festival since 1987 as a celebrity talent agent bringing my clients to the festival each year attending film premieres and the private lounges.

The brand sponsors at the majority of these events were unhappy being overcharged for sponsorship fees with little ROI. I was discouraged by the greed of some of the event producers and lackluster event productions.

I purposely created my lounge to provide affordable solutions with honor and integrity to benefit the brands. We love creating events with amazing food, music, people, fun brand activations and a media event wrap report delivered to our main sponsors 1-2 months post-event, all the right ingredients for a great party and successful event follow up.

Fast forward to present times and proud to say we have accomplished amazing results for our brand sponsors, adding authenticity and accountability to our mantra, securing 12.9 (almost 13!) BILLION media impressions across all platforms in our ECOLUXE Park City/ABC4 Media Lounge in January 2020. It's taken 15 years to assemble like-minded individuals who share these passions. I am blessed to have an amazing team!

What is ECO-LUXE?

I changed the name of our event to ECOLUXE in 2014 because it's a seamless fit with our platform to highlight brands that are good for the Planet, environment, home, family, even the pets since ECOLUXE means eco-friendly luxury re-defined in our modern world, based in environmental sustainability with 'Luxe' meaning luxury. The new 'luxury' are products of quality that provide a unique experience of embracing the natural environment and heart and soul of each creator, that promote social consciousness.

What do you enjoy mostly about the gifting suite event? Since I am a story-teller, the networking one-on-one with everyone in our entertainment industry is what I enjoy the most, introducing brands to some of the most creative minds on our planet. These convos are priceless!

What has been the ultimate gift ever given at your suite?? Luxury resort destinations.

How did the pandemic affect you & how did you keep the Covid-friendly events going? 

Our company as a sustainable business committed to being online years ago so I wasn't adversely affected working at home. However, I was determined to keep the LIVE EVENT model alive during the throes of the pandemic. I pioneered the 1st "Drive-Thru" celebrity concept in our nation back in June 2020 in the throes of the pandemic with no vaccine in sight, working with the Beverly Hilton Hotel (who graciously offered us their front driveway as our drive-thru venue) and their partner Lysol to execute the CDC health mandates at our event to keep everyone safe. I registered the hashtag #EventResponsibly and worked with my amazing team (over 30 people!) to make it happen in time for our Pre-Emmys in September 2020.

It was so successful (2 Billion media impressions-not including social media!) that the Beverly Hills Hilton offered their driveway to us again for our April 23rd ECOLUXE Awards Season COVID-safe Drive-Thru Luxury Experience. We secured over 6 Billion media impressions (not including all social media) in this 1-day 6-hour LIVE EVENT. Not one person became ill at either of our Drive-Thru events!

What inspires you?

My father RJ Durkin (RIP).

He taught me about business, who always supported me, encouraging me to build a more purposeful life.

He would say: "Debbie, if you love what you do, it's called PASSION, not stress!" and to "never, Ever Give up, keep moving!" As a result I am further inspired by people and their good causes: to be in service helping people level up the presence of the products and lifestyle services that they create to secure the wide recognition they deserve so we can bring back the economy of our nation and be in a stronger position to help the less fortunate. We uplift small business, women-owned businesses, black-owned businesses, socially conscious businesses, corporate brands launching sustainable products, and spotlight non-profit causes.

How is a day in your life?

Getting outside with my two white Labradors, catching up with the news, responding to hundreds of daily emails, pitching TV segment & Film producers and media for brand placements, client conference calls, researching brands for my ECOLUXE "Must-Haves" ABC4 TV segment and the TV shows with whom we work, evening playtime with pups, dinner, then either out with friends, self-care down time, watch a film/TV show/ read a good book, and meditating before retiring.

What charities do you support & why?

SPCLA ( I am a longtime Animal Advocate-theirformer official Animal-Assist Therapy Team with my 1st white labrador, Cruiser), Humane Society, Hope For Paws, AWC ( American Wild Horse Campaign), Wagmor Pets, In Defense of Animals, Huntington Dog Beach , Bethanny Frankel's #BeStrong, Shriners Hospitals for Children, Prevent Child Abuse Utah, Toys for Tots Utah, Carry The Load (in support of our fallen military) and lots of individual causes like Cancer, etc. We donate a portion of all our Amazon Smile and Ralph's purchases to a few of the above-mentioned non-profits. For years we have been donating ongoing Celebrity Gift Bags to one USA lucky follower on both our Twitter and Instagram accounts (@producerdeb) and also one to their favorite Charity.

Q&A

When did you know that you wanted to be an esthetician?

All I know is that I wanted to help people not only look beautiful but also feel good at the same time. Yet, little did I know this would lead me towards the journey of becoming an esthetician. I know I want to do more and be able to customize skincare treatments that give an instant result. From this moment, I decided to go back to school while working full time until I completed the hours to take the board exam and when I received my esthetician license I knew that it was just the beginning of a beautiful journey. Helping people look their best and improve their confidence is a joy that I feel whenever I see my clients very happy with the result of my customized treatments.  

How did you start?

I started as a distributor of Olivia Quido Skincare products and after getting my esthetician license, I opened my own day spa called “Gravitas Beauty and Wellness”. However, when the pandemic happened, we were closed three times due to the state mandate. During our closure, it gave me the opportunity to prepare and transition to “Gravitas Medspa” that allowed us to expand our services to medical procedures such as skin peeling, immunity drip, stem cell and magic foundation microneedling, botox, and warts removal. And as promised to all of our clients, we will offer the best treatments and procedures that are available in the market so I am continuously learning, researching, and seeking for new treatments and services that will be added to our menu.

What inspires you?

Inspiration comes from something or someone that motivates you to be better and do better. There is so much inspiration in this world and I think it is important that we start to highlight the things that inspire us:

My family, especially my children, inspires me to do my best in everything that I do. I want them to see that everything is possible if you put your heart and mind in whatever things that you do with God’s help and guidance.

Seeing my clients be their best selves both inside and out after receiving their Gravitas experience inspires me as well. It drives me to do even more for them by constantly researching what cutting edge and state of the art services and equipment are out there.

I am also inspired by people who are focused and know where they are headed, who strive joyfully to accomplish their goals and are determined to accomplish what they set out to do while being able carry it out enthusiastically with love and hope.

What does “beauty” mean to you?

Beauty in our society has been defined in so many ways and forms. For me, beauty is not just about appearances; it's a culmination of an individual’s confidence, strength, healthy habits and values. Being mindful of the needs of others, and using your unique qualities to add meaning to the lives of other people. The very reason why I love what I do is because of the opportunity to help others improve themselves not only on the outside but on the inside as well. I firmly believe that beauty and wellness goes hand in hand which is the main core of Gravitas Medspa.

At Gravitas Medspa, we live and breathe beauty and wellness. We know that both women and men have skincare goals that are unique, and there's no magic solution that works for everyone. I cannot emphasize enough the importance of having a daily skincare routine because of the many benefits to our skin such as preventing premature aging, breakouts and pigmentations. And it is equally important to choose skincare products that give excellent results. For this reason, I highly recommend Olivia Quido Skincare products (Official Skincare of the 2019 and 2020 Miss Universe) because of the great results it brings to all of its users.

It is not a one size fits all regimen because each person’s goals and skin conditions are different. Being an advocate for all of my clients and an official distributor of this product, gives me the opportunity to customize a skincare regimen that is best suited for each individual's skin care needs.

Are you planning on creating your own skin care line?

It's a woman’s dream to have her own skincare line and if it’s God’s will for me, it will happen in His perfect timing.  

What’s your must-have product?

We are exposed to different UV sources both inside and outside of our homes, that’s why a skincare product that is a MUST-HAVE is SUNSCREEN with at least a minimum SPF of 50. Constant exposure to the UV sources without any proper protection can lead to skin conditions such as cancer or pigmentations which are difficult to treat and can be very expensive.

Miranda is a multiple-award winning writer/director. A graduate of UT/Austin with a BFA in Film/Television, Miranda’s student short True was purchased and screened by L’Entrepôt Cinema in Paris, France (1997). She later directed an art magazine episode for the show Eat Art on PBS that aired in 5 US markets (Houston, Austin, Dallas, Phoenix, Los Angeles). In 2001, she Executive Produced/Wrote/Directed Marisa Romanov, a short that debuted that year at the International Venice Film Festival Official Shorts Selection and received Audience Choice. The short also screened that year at Berlin Film Festival in the Alternate Selection. Spigener-Sapon’s play The Flame, in which she directed in 1997, received praised by The Village Voice during its' Off-Broadway run at the former Bleecker Street Theatre in NYC and also by The Houston Press at the NY Deli Theatre in Houston, Texas. Later, in 2017, Miranda directed the 20th anniversary short-run of The Flame in Los Angeles, gaining praise from The Los Angeles Times and several blogger influencers. Miranda has produced and directed a number of local, regional and national commercial spots for television as well as documentary projects as a producer at Discovery Networks that included Walk On,, about equine/hippotherapy for the disabled. In 2018, Miranda directed the stage adaptation of her WCOP award-winning, time-travel/sci-fi/romance short story, Coffee with John, which received a glowing mention in The Los Angeles Times and Broadway World.

Miranda produced/directed the documentary feature, Masculinity That Inspires Change and directed the short film The Power of Forgiveness, both acquired by Amazon. In Addition to her work in TV/film/theatre, Miranda was signed by Winterwolf Press to write a 4-book prequel series to her Marisa Romanov TV series project that is development. The first novel, Charles: A Marisa Romanov Story, to debut later in 2021. She also produces a nationally syndicated podcast on iHeartRadio, Audible, Spotify and Apple that is in its third season: Inspire Change with Gunter. Most recently, Miranda made her narrative feature film debut as a director in the feature film “Lifelines”, a noir psycho-drama starring Lew Temple, Ross Gosla, Fern Lim and Jeremy Denzlinger that takes the audience through the depths of mental illness and depression. It is set to debut in limited theatrical release plus streaming in 2021. Additionally, she is the Showrunner/Creator and Director of a sci-fi/animated/mixed-media series “Haisley” that is currently in production and will debut later from a major streaming network to be announced soon.

How did you know that you wanted to make movies?
Oh man, I think I got bit by the bug very early on. I have childhood friends that remind me how I used to “direct” little mini-plays with my friends. I’d do everything from writing up a little script or just telling them the script and then we’d go through our clothes as wardrobe, pull things out of the house to use as props and “set design” and all my friends were cast in specific parts and we just perform them around the neighborhood. Sometimes we had an audience of passerbys sometimes not, but it was fun. I was probably about 5 or 6 when I started doing this. As I got a little older like around 8 or 9, I’d grab a hold of any camera I could find and shoot photo collages or sometimes play around with an old 8mm film camera for little movies.

How and when did you create Noirtainment?
Noirtainment started conceptualizing around 2017 as I wanted to create projects that had a “noir” aesthetic and feel. In 2019, I actually started registering, branding and building my core team.

What is Noirtainment?
Noirtainment Productions www.Noirtainment.com is an independent production studio that produces quality film, television and stage projects that are noir in aesthetic whether it's scripted or unscripted. The name is a play on Noir Entertainment and merging to form Noirtainment – an independent studio that creates content that enlightens, empowers, inspires, entertains and finds the light in the darkness.

What do you enjoy the most of your job?
I think I just love writing and creating projects that not just entertain, but inspire change, hope and a deep human connection even in troubled times when there feels there is no light at the end of the tunnel. There is always light in the dark and if we can all just spend a smidge of our time to create something beautiful that gives hope to all even in the darkest times.

What are some challenges that you face in this profession?
There is a lot of elite-ism in this industry. It's tough, but you have to make your mark. If you have a dream or a goal, stick with it and persistence is key. As women, we ARE all minorities…no matter what the color of our skin or background or social status is…we have an uphill battle to be heard and to tell our stories, but the glass ceilings are being shattered and we must keep up and continue to the finish line!

What makes a script a movie? What do you look for?
Great question and I may have to answer in parts. First, a script is the paper once you’ve gotten it out of you and then you go through a few revisions to get it where it needs to be to start pitching or developing it for the screen. Second, film (and television) is a very collaborative medium with many moving parts and people to get it to the point that you end up seeing on the screen. Finally, whereas your choice to go a traditional route by having the script shopped around by your agent/manager or you decide to go the independent route…there will be a long journey of more changes, casting, producers, etc, that will come on board with you to shape into what will be a movie. If you ever read a script of release film or show episode sometimes you remember everything you read actually on the screen, but then other times or sometimes there is rewording or scenes cut or scenes flipped around. This happens because once its in development and headed towards production, the script takes an organic form. It is no longer just words on paper, but it's brought to life by the actors who invest their skill in the characters, the scenes and settings/locations are now a true visual you can watch (or in a way visit with your imagination), the music score makes you feel a level of emotion, etc. I can go on, but this is a glance into the ingredients of the soup — from concept idea to script to development/production/post and eventually to the viewer in distribution.

Tell us about your last project Haisley?
Haisley started out as a project that my manager brought to me through the production arm of his management company in the middle of the lockdown in April. All production had shutdown and everyone as you know was concerned about working and paying bills. The idea was to launch an animation division of Noirtainment. I was a little leery about taking on another project, and animation is new to me, but my team at Noirtainment includes DeVonna Prinzi, she is our Director of Creative Affairs and an Executive Producer on the project. She was key in the hiring of our animators, VFX artists, editors, etc to get this project off the ground. Haisley is a 100% virtual production from the writers room to each department of production. It is a mixed-media meaning we have animated characters that inhabit and navigate through a real world environment and locations. The story is a noir/sci-fi series that follows a strong young female, a precocious 7 year old named Haisley when she awakes in a strange alternate universe and encounters individuals, creatures and beings that she has to learn to trust in order to find her way back home and with her father. These beings include a Raven and a talking Saxophone. This project is part of a larger project that I can’t discuss publicly yet, but it takes you on a journey that will make you think about how you view life, those around you and the importance of the human connection. What advice do you give to someone who is pursuing your career?
Just be strong, stick with it and don’t give up. This business is tough and can even be mean at times, but you don’t have to feel like anything is out of reach. With a good attitude and if you are nice to everyone (the best you can) even when it is challenging and people aren’t so nice to you…you never know what lies in the road ahead. Stay grounded, but keep your dream in clear view and you will get there. Also appreciate the little things, those little accomplishments that might not seem like much, but actually can be huge and a blessing in disguise in the big picture of your career as you keep moving forward!

The Original “Lip Pioneer” Partners with SEL Beauty to Launch New Collection, Debuting this November

It’s the pout that has melted a million hearts and made Lisa Rinna a household name. Though known as an accomplished actress, designer, author, host and (Real) housewife, Lisa’s lips are her signature, a trend she started long before Hollywood’s biggest stars copied the look on the red carpet. Now, after more than a decade in the making, she is bringing her style public with Rinna Beauty, an all exclusive, 100-percent vegan and paraben-free collection of products that are also PETA-certified cruelty free. Not surprisingly, the brand is launching this November with Lisa’s Lip ICON kit, featuring different shades of lipstick, gloss and liner. The line is a collaboration with SEL Beauty, a creator of iconic beauty brands, and will be available at RINNABEAUTY.COM 

“Rinna Beauty is me,” says Lisa. “It’s taking everything that I've ever known and learned in my life, whether I've been on camera or off. What’s great about Rinna Beauty is I don't have to fit into any mold. There's nothing holding me back from creating exactly what I love and what works for me. And then of course, the sky is the limit. I see Rinna Beauty as a true lifestyle brand.”

The collection, steeped in the quality and style of houses like Chanel, Tom Ford and MAC, launches in November with Lisa’s “LIP ICON” lip kit, featuring lipstick, gloss and liner. The brand is introducing three iconic nude shade kits -- “Birthday Suit,” “Legends Only,” and “No Apologies” -- that includes Lisa’s signature shades.

“I’m starting out with a lip kit because I am the lip pioneer,” she says with a wink and a nod. “I get asked a lot what lip color I’m wearing and where people can find it. And I thought, ‘Why am I not doing this on my own?”

There will be three shades of lipstick (“Rosé All Day,” “Troublemaker” and “Pucker Up, B!tch”) and lip gloss (“No Filter,” “Dancing Queen” and “Guilty Pleasure”), and the “Notice Me” liner will be available within every kit. Lisa was intimately involved with every product, trying samples, tweaking formulas, testing colors, textures and how long they last. She sent several samples back and embraced every aspect of the launch, from ingredients to packaging and marketing.”

“We had to go through a few iterations,” Lisa says. “I'm very specific about what I like. I know exactly the lip gloss and the consistency and the texture. Does it have fragrance, does it not? Does it have a taste, does it not? And I will say that, when you really want something and you know what you want, the more specific you are, the better.”

Rinna Beauty will expand its collection in 2021 with new beauty products, to be announced.

Lisa has thought about starting her own beauty brand for more than a decade but never found the right partners or the level of quality she felt comfortable putting her name to. Though she has opened a retail store, created a clothing line on QVC, written books, hosted shows and joined the cast of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” starting a line of cosmetics was something that alluded her for years. Until now.

“Starting Rinna Beauty is something that has taken forever but we finally did it,” Lisa says. “I never gave up. I had many different opportunities to do a beauty line and it never worked out. I’m talking 10-15 years of wanting to do this and it just kept not happening. And I thought, well, maybe I'm not meant to do a beauty line … maybe I should just focus on my clothing line. And then I met the team from SEL Beauty and voila, here we are.”
